Using key principles and provisions of the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) as a yardstick for analysis, this paper examines whether and how eight major regional integration agreements in Sub-Saharan Africa address TBT. It finds that TBT have not been not an important issue in those agreements and investment in related institutional infrastructure has not been significant.

The OECD recently held a Workshop on Technical Barriers to Trade : Promoting Good Practice in Support of Open Markets. These proccedings bring together the presentation and background papers prepared for this workshop which attracted over 90 trade officials, regulators and other stakeholders from OECD and non-OECD countries to discuss developments in the TBT field and the associated policy challenges.

After two years of intensive negotiations, the Participants to the Arrangement on Officially Supported export Credits, at their 112th Meeting held on 3 February 2010, concluded the details of an agreement to revise and expand the premium-related rules of the Arrangement. The agreement (the Malzkuhn-Drysdale Package) is comprised on two basic components:(1) a common framework for the pricing of buyer credit risk; and (2) new minimum premium rates for country credit risk that had remained unchanged since the first rules on risk premium (the Knaepen Package) came into effect in 1999

Addressing the U.S. Export-Import Bank’s annual conference, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría called for new efforts to unblock the Doha Development Agenda trade talks in order to liberalise trade, stimulate business activity and boost jobs. President Obama, addressing the same conference, announced a National Export Initiative and congratulated Mr. Gurría for his leadership of the OECD.

Merci à tous ceux qui ont envoyé leur candidature. La prochaine campagne pour un financement en 2013 débutera en mars 2012. Le Programme de recherche en collaboration aide au financement des travaux de recherche sur l'utilisation durable des ressources naturelles dans les secteurs de l'agriculture, des pêcheries et de la production alimentaire.
