The Investment Compact for South East Europe and the Regional Co-operation Council have launched a partnership to boost South East Europe's business climate. Both partners and governments of the region have agreed to introduce an integrated approach to reform that will involve evaluations of business climate policy, agreement on priorities and capacity building to improve competitiveness in the region.

L' Association internationale des contrôleurs d'assurance (AICA) et l'OCDE sont convenus de diffuser un questionnaire commun sur la gouvernance des assureurs afin de réunir des informations sur les pratiques de gouvernance en vigueur chez les assureurs, ainsi que des points de vue sur ce que pourraient être des pratiques exemplaires dans ce domaine.

Ce questionnaire est destiné aux autorités de contrôle, pouvoirs publics (hors autorités de contrôle), assureurs, associations professionnelles et autres parties concernées.

3rd Meeting of the South East Europe Investment Committee

The 3rd Meeting of the South East Europe Investment Committee took place in Paris on 23 May 2008. Participants discussed future collaboration between the Regional Co-operation Council and the Investment Compact and reviewed Investment Compact activities since the 2nd Committee Meeting, including the IRI 2009 evaluation, the SME Policy Index 2009 evaluation, the drafting by the Working Groups of 'How-to' reform guidelines, and the completion of Phase I of the project on 'Sector Specific Sources of Competitiveness in the Western Balkans'.

High-Level Meeting on Economic and Governance Policy Reforms in Iraq

High-level representatives from the Government of Iraq and OECD-member countries met in Paris on 08-10 July to discuss Iraq's investment climate, anti-corruption policies and aid management, three issues identified as priorities by Iraqi officials during prior meetings held under the framework of the International Compact with Iraq. The meeting was organised by the MENA-OECD Initiative on Governance and Investment for Development and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Iraq.

The Indonesian authorities have been paying close attention to issues related to financial literacy and education – having declared 2008 “the year of financial education”.
