Refusals to Deal

The term “refusal to deal” describes a situation in which one firm refuses to sell to another firm, or is willing to sell only at a price that is considered “too high” or only under conditions that are deemed unacceptable. RTDs may harm competition by preventing entry that would have eroded or eliminated the dominant firm’s position.  They may also restrict competition in markets where the dominant firm’s product is an input or a complement.

Dans la zone OCDE, le ratio moyen pondéré des actifs des fonds de pension/PIB a diminué de 75.5 % en 2007 à 63.4 % en 2008, les Etats-Unis ayant enregistré une chute de 24.2 % de la valeur de leurs actifs l'an dernier, ce qui équivaut à une perte de 2 600 milliards USD. En 2008, seuls trois pays ont affiché un ratio actifs/PIB supérieur à 100 %, à savoir la Suisse (119 %), les Pays-Bas (113 %) et l'Islande (113 %).

First Meeting of the Task Force on Corporate Governance of Banks in Eurasia

The Eurasian Corporate Governance Roundtable established a task force to develop a policy options paper (“policy brief”) addressing corporate governance challenges shared by commercial banks in Eurasia. Based on some existing norms developed by the OECD or the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the policy brief is to be developed through active discussion within the Task Force that includes experts from Eurasian countries, OECD member countries and international organisations.  The Task Force has its meeting to discuss the draft policy brief in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 17 May 2007.
