La Corée doit utiliser l’énergie avec davantage d’efficience et lutter plus efficacement contre les émissions de gaz à effet de serre, selon un nouveau rapport de l’OCDE. Tout en saluant les progrès notables réalisés par ce pays durant la décennie écoulée face aux défis environnementaux, l’OCDE note la nécessité d’aller plus loin, aussi bien dans l’intérêt d’une coopération accrue au niveau international que dans un but d’aider le développement économique de la Corée.

On 17th-18th November2005, OECD and the Government of Armenia co-organised a conference of Ministers of Economy/Finance, Environment and Water. This document presents the conference proceedings. Ministers discussed how to address the critical situation of the water sector in EECCA countries, particularly how to finance much-needed improvements. The meeting examined progress in light of a set of guiding principles they had adopted at an earlier meeting in Almaty in 2000.

The OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals are a collection of the most relevant internationally agreed test methods used by government, industry and independent laboratories to determine the safety of chemicals and chemical preparations, including pesticides and industrial chemicals. They cover tests for the physical-chemical properties of chemicals, human health effects, environmental effects, and degradation and accumulation in the environment and pesticide residue chemistry.

This database was developed by the Task Force on PRTRs, which is part of the OECD's Environment, Health and Safety Programme. Japan served as a lead country in its development. The purpose of this database is to share PRTR data as widely as possible within the OECD area, consistent with the OECD Council Recommendation C(96)41/Final, as amended by C(2003)87. The data is compiled on a national or regional level. The database does not include data of individual sites or facilities. The database will be updated on a regular basis.

This document was endorsed by the Working Group on Good Laboratory Practice at its 20th Meeting on 4 April 2006 and declassified by the Joint Meeting on 10 June 2006. It reiterates the decisions and the recommendations related to the role and responsibilities of governments, national GLP compliance monitoring authorities and inspectors as set out in the 1989 Council Decision-Recommendation on Compliance with Good Laboratory Practice [C(89)87(Final) and its Annexes, as concerns outsourcing of inspection functions.

The mandate initially given by the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the GHS for the biennium 2003-2004 was to start examining methods for carcinogenicity potency estimation. In December 2004, the Sub-Committee agreed that the work should be completed in 2006, and a scientific issue paper should be submitted in 2005.

In July 2004, the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the GHS agreed on a mandate* for the OECD work on Toxic Gas Mixtures. The Summary Report of the expert group meeting on Toxic Gas Mixtures, which met in Paris on 17 February 2005, is added as an appendix to this document; it includes the expert group responses to the six questions asked by the UN SCEGHS.
