The main objective of the assessment was to test the methodology as a tool for assessing the quality of a country procurement system in terms of its effectiveness and efficiency which developing countries and development partners can use to assess quality and effectiveness of national procurement systems. The assessment was intended to provide the basis for formulating capacity development plans to improve the procurement system.

In 2007, the Government of Malawi undertook a capacity assessment of the country's public procurement system using the OECD-DAC Methodology for Assessment of National Procurement Systems in combination with the UNDP Approach to Procurement Capacity Assessment.

The documentation for the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration is now available in English and French, and Spanish and can be downloaded on the dedicated website . Fifty-six countries have confirmed that they will be undertaking this survey. The survey is to be carried out between 2 January - 31 March 2008.

Members of the Working Group and other representatives of the JV for Procurement and interested members of BIAC to the OECD met to build on the results of the first meeting on 3 April, to give the Working Group the opportunity to hear firsthand the concerns of BIAC members and to discuss ways to continue the constructive dialog on strengthening partner country procurement systems. A summary note is available (in English). This meeting, held on 18 Sept in Copenhagen, was intended as one in a series of consultations and exchanges between the Joint Venture and BIAC.

The International Public Procurement Conference (IPPC) is a meeting place for public procurement professionals and academics from all over the world, in the area of public procurement. The third IPPC will take place in Amsterdam from 28 to 30 August 2008. The conference is shaped around papers submitted by international members of the academic world as well as the world of everyday public procurement practice. About 100 papers, with a wide diversity of topics, have been submitted.

La troisième réunion de l’Activité conjointe sur la passation des marchés a eu lieu à Arusha 5-7 mai à l'invitation de l'Autorité de régulation des marchés publics de la Tanzanie, en collaboration avec la Banque africaine de développement. Cette réunion a rassemblé les spécialistes des marchés et praticiens du développement intéressés des organisations multilatéraux et bilatéraux et des organisations des pays partenaires. La réunion a eu lieu dans le cadre de l'exécution des aspects reliés aux marchés de la Déclaration de Paris sur l'efficacité de l'aide.

Un atelier international était organisé et mise en œuvre par l’Activité conjointe pour fournir des conseils et l'orientation aux pays d'associé. Ces pays ont accepté d'employer la méthodologie d'évaluation de la fourniture du joint-venture en participation en tant qu'élément de l'exercice 2008 d'enquête de champ. Ces données seront incluses dans les 2008 rapports de surveillance pour la déclaration de Paris.

At the invitation of the Government of Denmark and the United Nations Development Programme, the second meeting of the Joint Venture for Procurement took place in Copenhagen from 19-21 September 2007. This meeting brought together procurement professionals from multilateral and bilateral development organisations and from partner countries in the context of implementing the procurement-related aspects of the Paris Declaration for Aid Effectiveness. The Government of Peru hosted the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Meeting regional meeting on procurement capacity development in Lima. This event was sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Latin America and Caribbean Region of the World Bank in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the OECD-DAC Joint Venture for Procurement.
