Capacity Training Workshop on Private-Public Partnerships in Jordan

A capacity training workshop attended by over 30 officials from the Jordanian Privatisation Commission (EPC) (http://www.epc.gov.jo) and other public sector agencies such as the Ministries of Economy and Finance working on privatisation and public-private partnership (PPP) projects was organised by the MENA-OECD Investment Programme at the request of the Commission.

Informal Roundtable on Institutional Arrangements for Financial Sector Supervision in the MENA Region

The MENA-OECD Investment Programme has co-organised an informal roundtable with the Arab Financial Forum on July 5th 2007 on the topic of Institutional Arrangements for Financial Sector Supervision in the Middle East and North Africa region. Participating were representatives of the London financial sector community and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of the UK.

MENA Tax Experts Discussions on Ways to Improve the Fiscal Climate for Investment

High-Level Roundtable Discussion for Bank Executive on Corporate Governance For Banks in Saudi Arabia

Mr. Rainer Geiger, Head of MENA-OECD Investment Programme, and Mr.Grant Kirkpatrick, Senior Economist in Corporate Affairs Division from the OECD Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs participated as speakers in the High-Level Roundtable Discussion for Bank Executive on Corporate Governance For Banks in Saudi Arabia, organised by the Institute of Banking, of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency.

Meeting on Developing Sound Insolvency and Creditor Right Systems in the MENA, Cairo, Egypt

The MENA-OECD Investment Program, in cooperation with the Hawkamah Institute for Corporate Governance, the World Bank and INSOL International  organised a regional meeting on developing sound insolvency and creditor right systems in the MENA. The purpose of the meeting was to expand the scope of the MENA-OECD Working Group on Corporate Governance, take stock of existing insolvency legislation, highlight existing gaps, address key issues of reform and establish a network of insolvency experts for the MENA region.

Lebanon National Investment Reform Workshop

The National Investment Reform Agenda Workshop (NIRA) for Lebanon, jointly organised by the Ministry of Finance of Lebanon and the MENA-OECD Investment Programme, took place on 19 April, 2007 at the Grand Serail in Beirut. This was the sixth in a series of NIRA workshops organised by the MENA-OECD Investment Programme to support the investment reform priorities of participating MENA countries.

Enterprise Financing Network Meeting, Dubai International Financial Center

Access to finance for enterprises, particularly at the early stages of development, is a key issue for the economic development of the Middle East and North Africa region. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, access to finance remains one of the most prominent economic challenges for most enterprises and particularly for SMEs, which account for as much as 99% of companies. 
Responding to this urgency, the Enterprise Financing Network, a private sector initiative of the MENA-OECD Investment Programme, was launched in May 2006.

Steering Group Meeting

The MENA-OECD Investment Programme’s Steering Group met in Paris to take decisions on the assessment of the current phase of the Programme and develop recommendations for the next Programme phase following the October 2007 Ministerial meeting (MENA II, 2008-2010).
