The High Level Capacity Building Seminar on “Administrative Simplification: Overcoming Barriers to Implementation” took place in Cairo, Egypt on 18 and 19 June 2008. The event was hosted by the Ministry of State for Administrative Development of Egypt, organised jointly with the OECD, in the framework of the Working Groups on E-Government and Administrative Simplification and on Public Service Delivery Public Private Partnerships and Regulatory Reform of the Good Governance for Development (GfD) in Arab Countries Initiative.

Organised within the framework of the Good Governance for Development (GfD) in Arab countries Initiative and hosted by the Egyptian Ministry of State for Administrative Development in Cairo, Egypt, this high-level regional seminar addressed the use of e-government as a tool to simplify administrative procedures and to cut red tape. Participants also discussed the creation of one-stop-shops and the simplification of licensing procedures.

On 17 January 2007, His Excellency Fathallah Sijilmassi, Ambassador of Morocco to France paid a high level visit to the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Angel Gurría. His Excellency Fathallah Sijilmassi and Mr. Gurría discussed the relationship between the OECD and Morocco and common projects in the areas of investment, good governance, employment and migration. Morocco has been actively cooperating with the OECD since 2004 within the framework of the Initiative on Governance and Investment for Development.

On 30 January 2007, His Excellency, Mr. Salem Al-Khazaleh, Jordanian Minister for Industry and Trade, met OECD Secretary-General, Mr. Angel Gurría. His Excellency, Mr. Al-Khazaleh and Mr. Gurría discussed the relationship between the OECD and Jordan and common projects in the areas of trade, industry and good governance.
