Fostering entrepreneurship through proactive policies

The first meeting of the MENA-OECD Working Group on SME Policy, Entrepreneurship and Human Capital Development was held back-to-back with the 4th meeting of the MENA-OECD Enterprise Financing Network.  Participants discussed horizontal policies relating to SMEs, including policies for high-growth enterprises, access to finance and skills development, in addition to debating the effects of the global financial and economic crisis on the region.

MENA business addresses responsible business conduct

The MENA-OECD Investment Programme, the Egyptian Institute of Directors, the Egyptian Corporate Responsibility Center, Global Compact Center in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank Institute (WBI), and the European Union (EU) organised  the meeting of the Regional Task Force on Responsible Business Conduct  in Cairo, Egypt.

 

MENA continues its efforts to improve investment policy and promotion reforms

Meeting in Paris on 28-29 October 2008, participants discussed the evolution of investment policy regimes, trends in free economic zones, trends in Public Private Partnerships, an investment policy and promotion assessment toolkit and preparations for the next MENA-OECD Investment Programme Ministerial meeting to be held towards the end of 2009.

The high-level meeting of the MENA-OECD Investment Programme on 6 October 2008 in Paris brought together delegations from MENA and OECD countries and representatives of international organisations to discuss strategic directions for the second phase of the MENA-OECD Investment Programme and the launching of the Business Climate Development Strategies (BCDS).

Meeting of the Regional Task Force on Responsible Business Conduct

The first meeting of the Regional Task Force on Responsible Business Conduct took place in Cairo on 26 October 2008. Participants representing governments, businesses and civil society in MENA and OECD countries gathered to discuss concrete initiatives for engaging in responsible business conduct and strengthening partnerships.

High-level meeting on economic and governance policy reforms in the Republic of Iraq

The high-level meeting on economic and governance policy reforms in the Republic of Iraq on 8-10 July 2008 at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris focused on designing and implementing policies to improve the investment climate, anti-corruption and aid management, as well as supporting economic policy reforms and private sector development.
