Consumer protection: OECD PISA Financial Literacy Study

22/02/2011 - The OECD is testing 15 year-olds on their knowledge of personal finances and ability to apply it to their financial problems. This is the first large-scale international study to assess the financial literacy of young people. The results will be available in the next PISA study, to be released in 2013.

Private Sector Integrity and Economic Development in Gulf Countries

On 11 May 2011, in close co-operation with the Public Prosecution Office of the State of Qatar, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the U.S. Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) presented a regional conference in Doha, Qatar to focus on integrity in the private sector.

High-Level Policy Roundtable on International Investment Policies in Asia

Summary of Women’s Entrepreneurship Discussions at 22-23 February Working Group 2 Meeting

Participants of this Working Group meeting, including several WBF members, drew attention to financing barriers specific to women-led SMEs and proposed some possible solutions. This contributed to the WBF’s goal of further mainstreaming women’s issues in regional policy fora and identifying areas where targeted intervention is needed to support women-led firms.

International Summit on the Teaching Profession (New York City - March 16-17, 2011)

The U.S. Department of Education together with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Education International (EI) and U.S.-based organizations – National Education Association (NEA), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), Asia Society, and WNET will host the Summit. The summit is the first of its kind, designed to engage countries in an intensive discussion about promising practices for recruiting, preparing, developing, supporting, retaining, evaluating, and compensating world-class teachers.
