The OECD has taken an important step to reinforce the role of its Principles of Corporate Governance as a global standard by issuing guidance for users in assessing their implementation. The Principles, agreed by governments in 1999 and revised in 2004, are designed to maintain public trust in companies and stock markets.

OECD's Risk Awareness Tool for Multinational Enterprises in Weak Governance Zones is designed to help them.

The global steel market is enjoying its fifth consecutive year of strong output and demand growth. The outlook for 2007 is expected to remain relatively bright, but a less vibrant world economy should slow demand and production growth, according to industry and government officials at the OECD’s Steel Committee meeting in Paris on 7-8 November 2006.
