OECD warns climate change is threatening Europe's skiing trade

Many regions in the Alps had the warmest November on record, delaying the arrival of snow by several weeks and worrying ski operators. As the first flurries are coating Alpine slopes, questions arise: was this balmy autumn an exception or a harbinger of the effects of climate change? How sensitive are the Alps to climate change?  

Annex I Expert Group side event at UN climate change conference in Nairobi

Seven new studies on climate change, produced under the auspices of the Annex I Expert Group, were launched at a side event at COP12 Nairobi: "Adaptation, Technology and Mechanisms:  Recent Work from the Annex I Expert Group on the UNFCCC" was held on Monday 13 November. These papers are available on this very web site: www.oecd.org/env/aixg. The OECD also had an exhibit stand at this major annual UN conference.

OECD’s Gurría welcomes Stern Review into consequences of climate change

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría has welcomed the publication this week of the Stern Review to the UK government on the economic consequences of climate change.  The report was compiled by Sir Nicholas Stern, former chief economist at the World Bank.
