OECD side events at Barcelona Climate Change Talks, 2-6 November

The OECD hosted two side events at the Climate Change Talks in Barcelona -- the last UNFCCC sessions before COP15 Copenhagen. 1. "Financing for Enhanced Climate Change Action: Mitigation and Adaptation" was organised by climate change experts from the Environment and Development Co-operation directorates; 2. “Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Climate Change” was co-hosted by ITU, OECD and GeSI.

The OECD/Annex I Expert Group side event at the UN Climate Change Talks in Barcelona - "Financing for Enhanced Climate Change Action: Mitigation and Adaptation" at 15:30 on 3 November - will discuss the following critical issues with expert speakers and discussants from both Annex I and Non-Annex I countries: Overall financial architecture and MRV of financial support; Delivery of development finance to support climate change action; Matching support with actions and the role of registries.

OECD’s Gurría welcomes UK government climate change map

Widespread drought, falling agricultural production and rising sea levels are just some of the devastating effects of climate change graphically illustrated in a new map produced by UK government’s Meteorological Office.

IEA Ministerial Meeting, 14th-15th October 2009

The IEA has held its two-day Ministerial meeting in Paris on 14-15 October with the theme “Responding to Energy Challenges in Partnership”. Energy Ministers from the 28 IEA member countries met at OECD headquarters to share views on the key energy and environment challenges facing the world today.

Infrastructure Project meeting on Transcontinental Infrastructure Needs to 2030/2050

Following completion of the Futures Project on Infrastructure Needs to 2030 (2005-2007) which covered telecoms, water, electricity and surface transport, the IFP is now launching work on  ports, airports and other major infrastructures crossing or connecting continents. The first meeting of the Steering Group on the new project will take place on 19th of November in Paris and will be followed on 20th of November by a special workshop on funding Infrastructures in the future.
