CIPAE’s new Architecture for Education Division

The International Centre of Prospective and Higher Studies (CIPAE) has created a new division: Architecture for Education. Founded in 1976, CIPAE is a private international institution which encourages education for all and lifelong learning in government policy as well as in economic, social and cultural organisations. CIPAE, based in Puebla, Mexico, collaborates directly with governments throughout the world and with UNESCO.

RSS is short for “Really Simple Syndication” and is somewhat like a free subscription service. OECD Work on Sustainable Development

The OECD recognises the important role that countries play in addressing issues related to sustainable development such as the global climate change problem and new energy options. The Organisation’s objective is to help its members prepare for the future by supporting them with sound policy analysis and options to achieve their goals in an environmentally-effective and economically-efficient manner. A number of projects are underway to implement this across several of the Organisation’s directorates and in the specialised agencies associated with the OECD.

School Earthquake Safety Review

PEB will organise a school earthquake safety review in which governments from OECD and non-OECD countries, including individual provinces and states, are invited to participate. The review will be composed of a self-evaluation questionnaire and an optional review visit conducted by a team of experts to interested countries.

"Sustainable Schools: Are We Building Schools for the Future?"

Building Schools for the Future is an ambitious programme to rebuild or refurbish all secondary schools in England over a 15-year period at a cost of GBP 45 billion. This report outlines the programme's aspirations and asks whether enough is being done to design, build and maintain schools. It presents environmentally sustainable development initiatives and asks crucial questions to determine if the schools being built will meet education needs in future years. It addresses the dual meaning of “sustainable development” and whether better planning can “future proof”our schools.
