OECD posts responses to public consultation on a Risk Management Tool for Investors in Weak Governance Zones

In October 2005, the OECD launched an invitation for public comment on its draft Risk Management Tool for Investors in Weak Governance Zones.  A strong response was received from global and regional organisations, business, labour and other civil society representatives.  These comments can be consulted online and will be used to improve the draft risk management tool which is scheduled for finalisation by Spring 2006.

Elles représentent certains des environnements d’investissement les plus ardus de la planète. C’est dans cette optique que l’OCDE est actuellement en train de préparer un outil de gestion du risque destiné à aider les entreprises à y gérer leurs activités de manière responsable. Le projet de texte a été soumis à la sagacité du public par le biais d’une consultation en ligne.

Case studies on good corporate governance in Latin America

This new publication gives an insight into how eight companies from Brazil, Colombia and Peru improved their corporate governance practices. Based on their experiences, this report gives practical advice and solutions for other companies in Latin America that are considering reforming their governance structure. OECD publishes Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-owned enterprises

After their endorsement in April 2005, the OECD has now published Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-owned enterprises. These new Guidelines provide the first international benchmark to help governments assess the way they exercise their ownership responsibilities vis-à-vis state-owned enterprises (SOEs). They are non binding and complementary to the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance

OECD publishes report on conducting business with integrity in Weak Governance Zones

A recurrent theme of the OECD's work on the Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises is that corporate responsibility goes hand-in-hand with government responsibility.  This report summarises the results of a multi-stakeholder dialogue  that has sought to provide inputs to an answer on the following central question:  Do companies have different roles and responsibilities when operating in weak governance zones, where governments are not working well, than in healthier investment environments?

G8 communiqué supports OECD work on guidance for companies in weak governance zones

Second meeting of Policy Dialogue on Corporate Governance in Beijing, China

The OECD and the Enterprise Research Institute of the Development Research Centre convened a high level meeting to exchange experience on corporate governance of state owned assets.  The OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises were presented for the first time after their official adoption by the OECD in April 2005.

Corporate Governance of State-Owned Assets in OECD countries

This presentation was made at a seminar on the relationship between the state and SOEs  in Brasila, on 10 - 11 November 2004.
It aimed at presenting the practices and main challenges in OECD countries regarding the corporate governance of state-owned assets. It also presented the current work of drafting Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-owned assets by the OECD Working Group on Privatisation and Corporate Governance of State-Owned Assets .

OECD Entrepreneurship Indicators Project Expert Workshop - "Understanding Entrepreneurship: Issues and Numbers", Paris

This workshop convened experts in the field of entrepreneurship research, policy and statistics to discuss policy priorities and associated data requirements in order to inform the work of an internationally comparable system of indicators to be developed by the OECD. It was held at the OECD Headquarters.

Seminar on Evaluating Local Development Strategies in Eger, Hungary

This seminar was organised by the OECD Trento Centre for Local Development.  It focused on disseminating information and tools for best practice evaluation approaches. The event was a part of the activities of the Evaluation Unit at the OECD LEED Trento Centre that aims to develop a culture of evaluation of local development strategies which promote entrepreneurship, local cohesion and good governance. Company Leaders Launch Latin American Corporate Governance Initiative

The Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance launched, on May 10th in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a new Companies Circle. This is an initiative led by companies who have adopted best practices of corporate governance. Its objectives are to bring together a group of Latin American companies who have adopted best corporate governance practices to provide private sector input into the work of the Roundtable; and to share with each other and the public their experiences putting the principles of good corporate governance into practice.

OECD Consultative Meeting with non-member countries on the Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Assets

A Consultative meeting was held at the IEA in Paris with representatives from Ministries and State-owned institutions in key non-member countries in order to have their input in the drafting of the Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Assets.
