Governance of the Earth observation infrastructure: inputs from OECD / IFP (11 May 2009)

The OECD IFP was invited to present its findings on the space infrastructure, at the GMES Governance workshop organised by the EARSC and EUROSPACE associations, in cooperation with the European Commission's GMES Bureau and the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels. Dealing with allegations of misconduct is a sensitive but increasingly topical issue. Following the 2007 consensus report on Best Practices for Ensuring Scientific Integrity and Preventing Misconduct, the GSF undertook a follow up activity on the specific problem of scientific misconduct in international research collaborations. The final report, prepared by a Coordinating Committee nominated by member countries, contains practical recommendations and tools for the investigation of possible cases of research misconduct in international research collaborations.

This document focuses on efforts in the United States to develop metrics to support sound decision choices by industry and consumers in the selection and use of biobased products. Public policy initiatives have been important in spurring the movement toward increased use of biobased products in the effort to lighten the US environmental footprint and enhance its energy security. This has included developing metrics based on sound science that also provide useful information to inform consumer selections of biobased products.
