A workshop on the application of Knowledge Markets to health innovations will be held on 16 - 17 October, 2008 in Washington DC, USA. The Workshop will explore what knowledge markets are and how they might address inefficiencies in the innovation cycle, their current and potential future applications in the health sector, as well as the challenges and barriers to their widespread use. Knowledge markets encompass a number of different mechanisms where buyers and sellers can trade a variety of knowledge intensive goods and services.

An expert workshop will be held on 6-7 October 2008, in Cambridge, United Kingdom, to discuss a number of analytical papers that address some key policy issues in the development and uptake of biomarkers. A policy report based on the papers and the workshop discussion is planned for delivery before the end of 2008.

Bioeconomy to 2030: Third meeting of the Steering Group

Infectious tropical diseases exact a heavy toll on families, societies and economies, particularly in developing countries. The World Health Organisation estimates that one billion people suffer from these dieases, but there are few new treatments or cures. The OECD's High Level Forum for Neglected and Emerging Infectious Diseases will look at what can be done to address this gap

Bioeconomy to 2030: Second meeting of the Steering Group

The meeting intended to tackle the forward-looking work for the second part of the project focusing on Health, Industry and Agriculture. This was covered in two time-intervals: the first (projections), covering the present up to 2012/15, estimated trends in the use and application of biotechnologies; the second (scenarios) covered the period 2012/15-2030. The Bioeconomy to 2030: A Policy Agenda - 1st Steering Group Meeting

The IFP hosted the first Steering Group meeting for the Bioeconomy Project on November 17th in Paris. At the meeting, the finalised work plan was approved and a draft report on the current state of the bioeconomy – “the analytical baseline” – was presented to the Group for discussion. The Bioeconomy to 2030: Informal Experts' Meeting

The IFP organised a one day meeting on March 6 to bring together decision makers from the public and private sectors to discuss the launch of an innovative OECD Futures Project on the bioeconomy and scope out interest for potential participation in the project. The meeting allowed to participants to review the scoping documents, discuss the deliverables, examine a provisional timetable, and receive further details for partners wishing to join the project.

The Bioeconomy to 2030: Scoping Meeting

A one-day experts meeting was organised at OECD headquarters on 2nd November 2005 to examine the current state of the bioeconomy and help craft the project documentation. The eighteen-month project will assess emerging developments in biotechnology, how they will impact the economy and society, and what policy agenda will be needed to promote and diffuse the new wave of developments in a way that is consistent with broader socio-economic goals.
