The compendium is built of several themes of relevance to local entrepreneurship development in East Germany. It brings together recommendations, International learning models and good practice in East Germany.

This international conference was organised by the OECD LEED Programme, in partnership with the French Inter-ministerial Delegation for Innovation, Social Experimentation and Social Economy, the National Co-operation Group and in co-operation with the Eurogroup Institute. The event was a unique occasion to discuss co-operative banks' recent developments and to analyse the challenges with which the sector is confronted.

The Chinese Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the LEED Programme and the ILO organised a joint workshop on local economic and employment development strategies. The event took place within the framework of the LEED project on the Local Governance of Employment and Skills in East Asia. The workshop discussed strategies and initiatives in China and experts shared diverse lessons learned from OECD countries such as France, New Zealand and the United States. The international conference on "What Policies for Globalising Cities? Rethinking the Urban Policy Agenda", co-organised by the OECD and the Spanish authorities, will be held 29-30 March 2007 at the Municipal Congress Hall, in Campo de las Naciones, Madrid. It will bring together government leaders, policy makers and practitioners to examine urban policy in the context of globalisation and the growing challenges for cities.
