Invention and Transfer of Environmental Technologies

Improved understanding of the relationship between public policy and environmental innovation is crucial to the design of environmentally effective and economically efficient environmental  policies. However, hard evidence remains scarce. In an effort to fill this gap, this series brings together the results of a number of projects undertaken at the OECD Environment Directorate, exploring the links between environmental policy and innovation.

The Co-operative Research Programme (CRP)'s Call for Applications for funding international conferences (such as workshops, congresses and symposia) and research fellowship grants in 2012 has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who has applied.

Our Call for Applications for funding in 2013 will be open in March 2012.

The CRP programme supports work on sustainable use of natural resources in agriculture, fisheries and food production.

OECD Sustainable Manufacturing Toolkit

This toolkit aims to provide a practical starting point for businesses around the world to improve the efficiency of their production processes and products enabling them to contribute to sustainable development and green growth. It includes an internationally applicable common set of indicators helping businesses measure their environmental performance at the level of a plant or facility. In addition to the Toolkit's web portal, the user guide booklet is now available.

Business is the driver of innovation, but governments need to provide clear and stable market signals. This book explores policy actions for the deployment of new technologies and innovations as they emerge: investment in research and development, support for commercialisation, strengthening markets and fostering technology diffusion. Competition will be essential to bring out the best solutions.

Harmonising Climate Risk Management: Adaptation Screening and Assessment Tools for Development Co-operation

There are a growing number of tools available for screening climate change risks and integrating adaptation into development planning processes. Building on the experiences of users and developers, this paper assesses the extent to which tools meet users’ needs. It provides options for reducing fragmentation and duplication: these include providing common guidance on specific topics and by clarifying the diverse terminology used.

First Steering Group Meeting of the National Policy Dialogue on Water-Related Issues in Ukraine

On April 23, a fist Steering Group Meeting under the EUWI  National Policy Dialogue in the water supply and sanitation sector of Ukraine was held. This meeting was focused on impact of decentralization and measures to cope with over fragmentation in the water sector.

Strengthening financial planning and management for WSS in central government, municipalities and utilities of EECCA countries

The dissemination workshop on “Strengthening financial planning and management for WSS in central government, municipalities and utilities of EECCA countries” was held  in Kiev, Ukraine on 24 April 2009. The meeting was a capacity development and dissemination workshop where good practices and approaches to improve the financial management of the water sector have been presented. These outputs have been developed in the framework of the EAP Task Force and supported by a TACIS grant.

EECCA workshop on integrating the environment sector into medium-term expenditure frameworks

The main objective of the workshop was to discuss in detail the scope of a survey on the experience of countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) with integrating the environmental sector into medium-term budgeting processes. The workshop was organised on 10 June 2009, in Chisinau (Moldova), back-to-back with the annual meeting of the Regulatory Environmental Programme Implementation Network.

The 2009 Annual REPIN meeting: Focus on financial drivers of environmental compliance

Environmental liability regimes and approaches and criteria to assess administrative fines were in the focus of discussions at the annual meeting of the Regulatory Environmental Programme Implementation Network. This meeting took place on 11-12 June 2009 in Chisinau, Moldova. The Network was established back in 1999 and brings together environmental experts from Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia (EECCA).

The next meeting of the EAP Task Force took place on 23-24 October 2008 in Astana, Kazakhstan.  The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss progress in implementing the the EAP Task Force's Programme of Work, and priority areas of work for 2009 and beyond. The meeting started with a special session on  how the challenge of institutional development of Environment Ministries in the region could be addressed, drawing on new approaches being employed by development cooperation agencies in OECD countries.

Встреча начнется со специального заседания, на котором будет обсуждаться, как решить задачу институционального развития министерств охраны окружающей среды в регионе с использованием новых подходов, применяемых организациями сотрудничества в целях развития стран ОЭСР.
