The OECD hosted two side events at the Climate Change Talks in Barcelona -- the last UNFCCC sessions before COP15 Copenhagen. 1. "Financing for Enhanced Climate Change Action: Mitigation and Adaptation" was organised by climate change experts from the Environment and Development Co-operation directorates; 2. “Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Climate Change” was co-hosted by ITU, OECD and GeSI.

But there are substantial discrepancies in access to ICTs between, but also within, countries, depending on key factors such as gender, rural coverage, skills and educational levels. This workshop, organised jointly by the World Bank/infoDev and the OECD, aims to share best practices in coherent approaches to meeting development objectives laid out by Ministers.

In addition, many countries consider that eco-innovation could be a source of competitive advantages in the fast-growing environmental goods and services sector. A number of policy issues have emerged from an inventory of policies and programmes that OECD countries have put in place to promote eco-innovation.

The objective of the Conference organised by the Environment Directorate was to present the overall results of the OECD Household Survey on Environmental Behaviour and to discuss policy implications. Ten experts teams coordinated by the OECD presented their main findings in five key areas: energy, transport, waste, organic food and water. The Conference will also provide an opportunity to share experience and to explore avenues for the new round of the OECD Survey to be implemented in 2010.
