Defining effective policies in the area of corporate governance

The financial crisis has led to a strong demand for new regulation and for this to be implemented rapidly. To avoid excessive regulation, a new publication calls for increased use of Regulatory Impact Assessment in the area of corporate governance and gives a number of examples of how the technique has been applied to promote more efficient policy. Examples include both ex-ante and ex-post analysis, the approach to defining policy needs and the role of quantification.

Egypt to participate in OECD review of e-government policies and services

Sixth Meeting of the Latin American Corporate Governance Roundtable, Lima, Peru

The Sixth Meeting of the Latin American Corporate Governance Roundtable took place in Lima, Peru, on 20 - 21 September, 2005.  The Roundtable reviewed progress in implementing the recommendations of the Latin American White Paper on Corporate Governance, considered emerging practices in strengthening enforcement, and experience in improving board effectiveness.  Participants also exchanged experience regarding the relevance of the new OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises in the Latin American context.

Company Leaders Launch Latin American Corporate Governance Initiative

The Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance launched, on May 10th in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a new Companies Circle. This is an initiative led by companies who have adopted best practices of corporate governance. The meeting discussed the 2004 OECD Principles of Corporate Governance and corporate governance reform in Ukraine.
