Stakeholder Survey of Biotechnology Policy Needs

OECD countries have agreed to boost official backing for exports of renewable energy and nuclear power equipment by offering more generous terms on government-backed credits in support of export deals.

School Buildings in Today's Crisis

To get a picture of the impact of the current economic and financial crisis on educational building programmes so far, the OECD Centre for Effective Learning Environments (CELE) has been conducting a survey of member countries and regions. The survey focuses on three main issues: the impact of the crisis on publicly funded projects, the impact on projects funded by private finance initiatives or through a public-private partnership, and the extent to which the crisis has affected the construction industry’s ability to build schools.

International Conference on the New Millennium Learners

OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials: 6th meeting

The 6th Meeting of the WPMN was held on 28-30 October 2009. During this meeting, the WPMN discussed the targets that need to be set in order to implement the Programme of Work 2009-2012. Accordinlgy, the WPMN agreed the updated Operational Plans for 2009-2012 for each of its projects and a new project on Co-operation on the Environmental Sustainability Use of Nanotechnology. Finally, the WPMN discussed how to continue progress on the Sponsorship Programme for the Testing of Manufactured Nanomaterials .

Workshop on Policy Coherence in the Application of Information and Communication Technologies for Development

Information communication technologies (ICTs)s are crucial to reducing poverty, improving access to health and education services and  creating new sources of income and employment for the poor. But there are substantial discrepancies in access to ICTs between, but also within, countries, depending on key factors such as gender, rural coverage, skills and educational levels.
This workshop, organised jointly by the World Bank/infoDev and the OECD, aims to share best practices in coherent approaches to meeting development objectives laid out by Ministers.

OECD Workshop Risk Assessment of Manufactured Nanomaterials in a Regulatory Context

This workshop was held on 16-18 September 2009 in Washington D.C., United States. This Workshop was co-hosted with the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to OECD (BIAC) and the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA). The  objectives were: i) to collect expert input to the critical issues specific for the risk assessments of nanomaterials; ii) to identify possible approaches for risk assessment based on the current state of knowledge; and iii) to identify issues which may be addressed through OECD’s testing programme. The workshop report will be available towards the end of the year.

OECD Workshop on Demand-Led Innovation Policies

2009 Workshop on Trademarks and Trademark Data, OECD Conference Center, 16-17 July

OECD Workshop on Sustainability of Bio-based Products - Montreal, Canada

International Symposium on Opportunities and Challenges in the Emerging Field of Synthetic Biology
