Update on submissions received for 4th Edition, Compendium of Exemplary Educational Facilities

The CELE Secretariat is pleased to announce that it has received 165 submissions from 34 different countries. An international jury has begun the selection process, and it will meet in August 2010 to make the final selection.

CELE experts on education facilities evaluation meet to discuss EQES pilot study

On 1 July 2010, national project leaders involved in the International Pilot Project on Evaluating Quality in Educational Spaces (EQES) – from Brazil, Greece, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal and UK (England and Scotland) - met in Paris to discuss the results of the project.

Making Space 2010: architecture and design for children and young people

CELE is sponsoring Children in Scotland's international award and conference promoting innovation, creativity and sustainability in design for children and young people aged 0-18. The deadline for submissions for the award is 8 August 2010. Secondary school building modernisation in Portugal – OECD review

The review report will be published end-January 2012. The review offers an objective assessment of the secondary school building modernisation programme led by the Portuguese government. It also provides insights for others engaged in school building projects, be they policy makers, educationalists or designers.

CELE launches series of live web seminars

CELE is pleased to offer its members and associate participants the opportunity to participate in a series of live web conferences. The aim of these conferences is to stimulate exchange of ideas on the latest topics of interest to CELE members.

CELE-brate at the Compendium launch event on 29 September 2011!

The launch event for CELE’s flagship publication Designing for Education: Compendium of Exemplary Educational Facilities 2011 will commemorate OECD’s anniversary by bringing together top designers and educators in a two-hour webcast to celebrate 50 years of educational facilities design. CELE and EIB organise workshop on strategic investment planning for educational infrastructure

From 28-29 June 2010, the European Investment Bank and OECD/CELE co-organised a workshop on Strategic Investment Planning for Educational Infrastructure at EIB Headquarters in Luxembourg, as part of a joint international project launched in 2009.

Sustainable School Buildings: From Concept to Reality

In line with the OECD strategy for “green growth”, an international conference entitled “Sustainable School Buildings: From Concept to Reality”, co-organised by CELE and the Ministry of Education and Sport in Slovenia on 1-2 October 2009, brought together over 130 delegates from Slovenia and around the world.

CELE conference on spaces for higher education

The CELE international conference "Higher Education Spaces and Places: For Learning, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange", held jointly with the University of Latvia in Riga, explored how to create sustainable educational facilities that will meet the needs of future generations. It considered how innovative environments can promote active and collaborative learning, critical thinking, and knowledge creation. It also examined the role of these spaces and places within both the urban and rural contexts.
