School students still being held back by gender perceptions, OECD study shows

In most countries, girls and boys now show similar results in the OECD’s PISA tests of 15-year-olds. But systematic assessment of gender differences shows that students are still being held back by their own gender-related perceptions.

Finland once again takes the number one spot in OECD's three-yearly PISA test of the abilities of a sample of 15-year old secondary-school students, followed by Hong Kong (China) and Canada in second and third place, according to advance details of results that will be published in full next week.

OECD to publish results of its latest PISA survey on 4 December

How have 15-year old students performed in the 57 countries that participated in OECD's 2006 PISA - Programme for International Student Assessment - tests? Results of PISA 2006 will be published at 10.00 a.m. Paris time on Tuesday 4 December 2007, with news conferences and media briefings that day in Tokyo, Brussels, Berlin, London, Washington and Paris.
