Forum 2009 Young Researcher Award

The second International Transport Forum to be held from 26-29 May 2009 will again offer a “Young Researcher Award” to a young researcher or researchers (of less than 35 years old) who submit the best research paper related to the theme of the Forum, Transport for a Global Economy: New Challenges and Opportunities. A prize of EUR 5000 will be awarded and an official award ceremony attended by Ministers of Transport will be held in Leipzig during the Forum.

Eliminating Deaths and Serious Injuries in Road Transport

Road crashes account for around 180 000 deaths every year in OECD and International Transport Forum countries, i.e. on average one fatality every 3 minutes. Worldwide, the WHO estimates the annual road death toll at 1.2 million.
