OECD countries agree on further liberalisation commitments in insurance and private pensions

OECD countries have agreed on further liberalisation commitments in the areas of insurance and private pensions.  The OECD Code of Liberalisation of Current Invisible Operations has been amended to broaden the insurance obligations of the Code and introduce new obligations on private pensions, thereby establishing a new, high standard for cross-border trade in insurance and private pensions services. 

The OECD will release good practices for enhanced risk awareness and education on insurance issues in 2008

After taking into consideration comments and updates received during the public consultation held between 26 June and 1 September 2007, the OECD will release `Good Practices for Enhanced Risk Awareness and Education on Insurance Issues’ and a background report in 2008.

Governments must prepare better for future disasters, says OECD

Governments around the world need to be better prepared for large-scale catastrophes and take a more proactive role in working with the insurance industry and other players, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría told participants at the inaugural meeting of the OECD International Network on Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes in Paris today.

Insurance Regulation and Supervision in Latin America: A Comparative Assessment

This OECD publication provides a comparative study of insurance regulation and supervision in 19 Latin American countries. It includes materials prepared for two policy dialogue meetings between OECD member countries and partner countries in Latin America to facilitate the co-operation and co-ordination among insurance regulators and supervisors.

The High Level Advisory Board of the OECD International Network on Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes held its inaugural meeting at the OECD Headquarters (opening remarks by the OECD Secretary-General). The Network is a strategic forum for the discussion of key issues related to the financial management of large scale catastrophes at a global level, aiming to provide policymakers with state-of-the-art expertise and policy advice.
