In response to the challenges resulting from the global financial crisis, the Members of the OECD Working Party on Export Credits and Credit Guarantees and the Participants to the Arrangement on Officially Supported Export Credits together with some non-OECD governments have pledged to continue support to their exporters and have adjusted their export credit programmes.

During his second official visit to the People's Republic of China, Angel Gurría launched the Chinese language translation of OECD's investment policy review of China which looks at Chinese government efforts to encourage responsible business conduct against the backdrop of recent regulatory changes and China's increasing outward investment.

On 11 March 2009, Israel became the 38th signatory to the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention which outlaws bribery of foreign public officials in international business transactions. Israel’s accession to the Convention represents an important commitment to the international fight against corruption.

Organised in Paris on 27-28 March 2008, this year's Global Forum focused on best practices in promoting investment for development. The opening session was a ministerial roundtable discussion on the political economy of investment policy reform co-chaired by the Secretaries-General of the OECD and UNCTAD. This event brought together the global network of policy makers, academics, business leaders, labour representatives, and members of civil society dealing with the policy challenges of international investment.

Government representatives and experts from some thirty countries and jurisdictions gathered in Bali, Indonesia, for an international seminar on Asset Recovery and Mutual Legal Assistance. Discussions focused on formal and informal measures to obtain international legal assistance across jurisdictions, particular as this assistance relates to the confiscation and recovery, from foreign jurisdictions, of assets obtained through corrupt practice.
