The LEED Programme received a group of Latin American Leaders in the OECD Headquarters in Paris. This group came as part of the first European Cities Study Tour sponsored by the World Bank Institute. Some LEED Partners as well as French and European authorities took part in the discussions.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) through its Special Office in Europe is a full member of the OECD LEED Programme working jointly on how to foster local development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This international seminar, is jointly promoted by ISSAN and the EMES Network, in partnership with the LEED Programme. It aims at exploring the evolution of the co-operative form from a mutuality tradition towards a new model with a large participation, by focusing on some national co-operative experiences.

On 11th June 2003, the OECD Council decided to establish, in co-operation with the Italian Government and the Autonomous Province of Trento, an OECD LEED Centre for Local Development in Trento. The seminar is organised by the Italian LEED Partner – Cittadinanzattiva in cooperation with the Active Citizenship Foundation (FONDACA) and the Frascati Group for corporate social responsibility. The event will focus on the relationship between Citizens and enterprises in the framework of CSR strategies and more specifically on partnerships between Citizens’ organizations and Businesses in Europe.

The seminar will bring together the policy makers and practitioners from the CEE and SEE countries allowing for discussion i) how to best introduce and implement prior assessment so that it serves as a tool for local strategy design and delivery ii) how to best support the local level so that evaluation becomes an opportunity for learning and stops being perceived as a threat.

This year, the CEI SEF addressed the theme of Reforms key to Competitiveness. It was a platform to make business contacts and establish co-operation on investment projects and development programmes. The SEF also provided a unique chance to discuss structural reforms for improving business environment, development strategies for raising competitiveness, with a special focus on energy, infrastructure, and human resources.
