Visit of Latin American Leaders, Château de la Muette, 16 February 2004

The LEED Programme received a group of Latin American Leaders in the OECD Headquarters in Paris. This group came as part of the first European Cities Study Tour sponsored by the World Bank Institute. Some LEED Partners as well as French and European authorities took part in the discussions.

Inter-American Development Bank & LEED Programme Co-operation

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) through its Special Office in Europe is a full member of the OECD LEED Programme working jointly on how to foster local development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Conference on From Co-operative to Social Enterprise, Trento, Italy, 19-20 December 2003

This international seminar, is jointly promoted by ISSAN and the EMES Network, in partnership with the LEED Programme. It aims at exploring the evolution of the co-operative form from a mutuality tradition towards a new model with a large participation, by focusing on some national co-operative experiences.

Inauguration of the OECD LEED Centre for Local Development in Trento, Italy, 6 December 2003

On 11th June 2003, the OECD Council decided to establish, in co-operation with the Italian Government and the Autonomous Province of Trento, an OECD LEED Centre for Local Development in Trento. The Centre was inaugurated last 6 December. Conference on "Local Economic Strategies for Equity and Growth: Building on Success - Glasgow's Future Prosperity", Glasgow

This conference discussed the findings of the expert study mission which took place in Glasgow last January and that will contribute to the new economic strategy of the City.  The event was organised in partnership with Scottish Enterprise Glasgow and Glasgow City Council.

VI International Seminar on Corporate Citizenship - Citizens as CSR Partners: Obstacles, Good practices, Winning Strategies, Rome, Italy

The seminar is organised by the Italian LEED Partner – Cittadinanzattiva in cooperation with the Active Citizenship Foundation (FONDACA) and the Frascati Group for corporate social responsibility.
The event will focus on the relationship between Citizens and enterprises in the framework of CSR strategies and more specifically on partnerships between Citizens’ organizations and Businesses in Europe.

Capacity building seminar on “Evaluation as a Tool for Local Development Strategy Building” Trento, Italy

The seminar will bring together the policy makers and practitioners from the CEE and SEE countries allowing for discussion i) how to best introduce and implement prior assessment so that it serves as a tool for local strategy design and delivery ii) how to best support the local level so that evaluation becomes an opportunity for learning and stops being perceived as a threat.

Stakeholders Meeting “Developing Skills for Endogenous Development”, Tirana and Shkoder, Albania

This workshop looked at local development assets and capacities in Northern Albania with a focus on the traditional handicraft sector, including skills development and the role of partnerships in the design, implementation and evaluation of local development strategies. This event was jointly organised by the OECD LEED Centre for Local Development and the International Labour Office (ILO).

Seminar on “Influencing attitudes and skills for entrepreneurship and SME growth: Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and south east Europe”, Skopje, Macedonia

This event was a follow-up of the Trento Centre capacity building seminar on entrepreneurship and further explored the theme of Entrepreneurship Spirit and Skills. It was organised by the OECD LEED Trento Centre for Local Development in collaboration with the Agency for Entrepreneurship Support of the Republic of Macedonia.

Seminar on “Evaluating Local Development Strategies” Bratislava, Slovak Republic

This seminar was organised by the OECD LEED Trento Centre for Local Development.  It focused on disseminating information and tools for best practice evaluation approaches. The event is a part of the activities of the Evaluation Unit at the OECD LEED Trento Centre which aims to promote and develop culture of evaluation of local development strategies for entrepreneurship, local cohesion and good governance. CEI Summit Economic Forum, Bratislava, Slovakia

This year, the CEI SEF addressed the theme of Reforms key to Competitiveness. It was a platform to make business contacts and establish co-operation on investment projects and development programmes. The SEF also provided a unique chance to discuss structural reforms for improving business environment, development strategies for raising competitiveness, with a special focus on energy, infrastructure, and human resources. Seminar on "Local Development as a Driver for Growth in Central and Eastern Europe", Prague, Czech Republic

This seminar was held back to back with the next meeting of the LEED Directing Committee.  Ten years after the Czech Republic joined the OECD and the LEED Programme, what are the lessons that can be learned from the Czech experience in local development?
