Centre for PRTR Data

23-Jun-2006

This database was developed by the Task Force on PRTRs, which is part of the OECD's Environment, Health and Safety Programme. Japan served as a lead country in its development. The purpose of this database is to share PRTR data as widely as possible within the OECD area, consistent with the OECD Council Recommendation C(96)41/Final, as amended by C(2003)87. The data is compiled on a national or regional level. The database does not include data of individual sites or facilities. The database will be updated on a regular basis.

Framework for Selecting and Applying PRTR Release Estimation Techniques

09-Nov-2005

This document provides general principles to be applied in producing comparable and representative PRTR data and in the selection and application of estimation techniques. Three case studies provide detailed information on practical applications. The document complements the information of the Resource Compendium and the Resource Centre for Release Estimation Techniques

Resource Compendium of PRTR Release Estimation Techniques - Part 3: Summary of Techniques for Off-site Transfers

19-Apr-2005

The Resource Compendium of PRTR Release Estimation Techniques provides OECD countries with basic information on the techniques used to quantify releases and transfers from point and diffuse sources for a PRTR. It consists of three separate volumes: Part 1 summarises techniques for point sources and Part 2 for diffuse sources. This Part 3 concludes the Resource Compendium and describes techniques used to estimate the amounts of pollutants transferred off-site.

Uses of Pollutant Release and Transfer Register Data and Tools for their Presentation

27-Jan-2005

This report briefly presents over 100 examples of uses of PRTR data from many different countries and a variety of PRTR systems. PRTR data is used by the public, industry, governments, investment community and academic research institutions. The publication also presents several available tools that provide assistance for the effective use of PRTR data, such as geographic information system (GIS), toxicity weighting, normalization, risk screening and environmental indicators. In addition, the document provides up-to-date website addresses of the used information sources.

Launch of the Resource Centre for PRTR Release Estimation Techniques (RETs)

14-Oct-2004

The Resource Centre provides a clearinghouse of guidance manuals/documents of
release estimation techniques for the principal pollutant release and transfer registers developed by OECD member countries. The manuals and documents include descriptive information on the sources of pollution and the pollutants that are released, as well as information on emission factors, mass balance methods, engineering calculations, and monitoring information. The Resource Centre will be updated on a regular basis to include additional and new documents as they become available.
