PESTICIDES: OECD Issue Paper on Microbial Contaminant Limits for Microbial Pest Control Products

10-Jan-2012

The purpose of this Issue Paper that has been developed by the OECD BioPesticides Steering Group, is to highlight current international microbial contaminant criteria on food and drinking water and to encourage discussions among OECD member countries on the acceptable levels of microbial contamination in microbial pest control products. A compilation of methods available for screening microbial pest control products for the presence of pathogens and other micro-organism contaminants are referenced for guidance to regulatory authorities and applicants/notifiers alike.

PESTICIDES: Report of the Second OECD BioPesticides Steering Group Seminar on the Fate in the Environment of Microbial Control Agents and their Effects on Non-Target Organisms

10-Jan-2012

This report presents the results of an OECD Seminar (Paris, May 2010) on biopesticide issues related to the fate in the environment of microbial biological control agents (mBCAs) and their effects on non-target organisms (NTOs), an issue of interest to OECD member countries’ governments.  The objectives of the Seminar were manifold and sought to 1/ identify key issues & challenges, 2/ provide updates of national & international activities, and 3/ suggest options for OECD countries and key stakeholders in the area of the fate in the environment of mBCAs and their effects on NTOs.

Revised Consensus Document on Compositional Considerations for New Varieties of Low Erucic Acid Rapeseed (Canola)

05-Jan-2012

The revised Consensus Document on Compositional Considerations for New Varieties of Low Erucic Acid Rapeseed (Canola), number 24 in the Series on the Safety of Novel Foods and Feeds, is now available online. It contains information on the key nutrients, anti-nutrients and toxicants of food and feed obtained from this oilseed crop. Biotech varieties of canola are increasingly being used in several countries. This document revises and updates the 2001 issue (No.1 in the Series) which is hereby repealed.

National Activities on Life Cycle Assessment of Nanomaterials

21-Dec-2011

This document provides a snapshot of information on national activities on the life cycle assessment of nanotechnologies provided by OECD countries. As a “living document”, it is expected to be updated as new information becomes available.

Information Gathering Schemes on Nanomaterials: Lessons Learned and Reported Information

21-Dec-2011

This document presents lessons learned from information gathering surveys carried out by OECD countries and summarises non-confidential business information and statistics on nanomaterials. It includes useful information on how to design/implement information gathering surveys and the most commonly used nanomaterials along with use patterns and volumes used among OECD countries.

Regulated Nanomaterials: 2006-2009

21-Dec-2011

This document provides a snapshot of regulated nanomaterials under the regulatory frameworks of OECD member countries during 2006-2009. It summarises legislative features, information on notified nanomaterials as well as data collected for nanomaterials under the frameworks.

PESTICIDES: Guidance Document on Crop Field Trials

30-Sep-2011

Crop Field Trials (also referred to as supervised field trials) are conducted to determine the magnitude of the pesticide residue in or on raw agricultural commodities, including feed items, and should be designed to reflect pesticide use patterns that lead to the highest possible residues. While the OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals on Crop Field Trial (TG 509, in September 2009) provides a harmonized approach to conducting and reporting crop field trials in OECD countries, this Guidance Document will help in planning the trials in OECD countries and in interpreting the results.

Pathogenicity Factors in Assessing the Potential Adverse Health Effects of Micro-Organisms: Bacteria

22-Sep-2011

The Guidance Document on Pathogenicity Factors in Assessing the Potential Adverse Health Effects of Micro-organisms, number 52 in the Series on Harmonisation of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology, is now available online. It addresses the concept of bacterial pathogenicity in the context of risk/safety assessment of deliberate release of ‘genetically engineered’ micro-organisms intended for commercial environmental applications.
