Estimating a supply block for Poland

The supply side framework and related measures of output and unemployment gaps play a leading role in the OECD analysis of short term conjunctural conditions and long term determinants of growth. To allow such diagnoses for Poland, this paper develops a comprehensive supply block in accordance with the OECD approach.

The subjects ranged from fighting corruption and managing financial risk to sustaining economic growth and ensuring safe water for the future.

Rebalancing of world growth continues, says OECD Economic Outlook

The latest Economic Outlook forecasts a soft landing in the US, a strong and sustained recovery in Europe, a solid trajectory in Japan and buoyant activity in China and India. But it warns too of risks posed by imbalances in current accounts and, possibly, in financial and housing markets.

US growth in lower gear, Europe’s robustness confirmed

US growth has shifted into a lower gear, according to an interim OECD assessment of G7 economies. Euro area activity is likely to become more moderate but should remain above trend. The Japanese expansion continues, although household consumption remains lacklustre.

The economic impact of climate change, rising food prices and a broad range of other trade, growth and development issues will be discussed at the OECD’s annual ministerial meeting in Paris on 4-5 June 2008. France, represented by Christine Lagarde, Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment, will chair the meeting, with Mexico and Switzerland as Vice-Chairs.
