The report includes a discussion of the conceptual issues regarding innovation in tourism, it illustrates national and industry practices enhancing innovation in tourism, and provides insights into the potential role of tourism policy in innovation.

This co-operative project between the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs and the OECD provides an opportunity for participants in East Germany to stand back and reflect on their overall options, needs and priorities and by facilitating an international exchange of information on innovations and best practices from a range of OECD Member countries.

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy and Labour supports the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance. The Forum builds on the expertise and the informal networks developed by the OECD and seeks ways to optimise the contribution of partnership structures to local governance and the effectiveness of policies.

This activity focuses on how the related policy areas be better integrated to maximise benefits for the economy and society in general, fostering business development, the enhancement of skills and social inclusion. Participating countries include Canada, Greece, Italy, Poland, the USA, Bulgaria, and Romania with the project also receiving support from the European Commission. Countries are invited to express their interest in participating in these reviews.

Conference on "Decentralisation and Co-ordination: The Twin Challenges of Labour Market Policy", Venice, Italy

This high-level conference was organised by the Senate and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Italy and the OECD LEED Programme, in collaboration with Italia Lavoro and Isfol. It took stock of 10 years of decentralisation since the initial Venice conference which the LEED Programme organised in 1998 at the request of the Italian government.

This international conference was organised by the OECD LEED Programme, in partnership with the French Inter-ministerial Delegation for Innovation, Social Experimentation and Social Economy, the National Co-operation Group and in co-operation with the Eurogroup Institute. The event was a unique occasion to discuss co-operative banks' recent developments and to analyse the challenges with which the sector is confronted.

The Chinese Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the LEED Programme and the ILO organised a joint workshop on local economic and employment development strategies. The event took place within the framework of the LEED project on the Local Governance of Employment and Skills in East Asia. The workshop discussed strategies and initiatives in China and experts shared diverse lessons learned from OECD countries such as France, New Zealand and the United States. The seminar was organised by Unidea UniCredit Foundation in collaboration with the OECD LEED Programme, CoDe Joint European Master in Comparative Local Development (University of Trento), EUROREG – Centre for European Regional and Local Studies (Warsaw University). The event discussed regional diversity and local development in Central and Eastern Europe, the opportunities for both public and private actors to actively contribute to the improvement of local realities, and the regional and European context of such local strategies.
