OECD tracks gender inequality in developing countries

The OECD's Development Centre measures discrimintation that restricts women's ability to access resources in 102 developing countries. The centre will present this new measure on 5 March 2009 at the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.

International Migrants Day

To celebrate the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families in 1990, the UN General Assembly proclaimed the 18th of December as International Migrants Day. As shown by the work of the Development Centre, migrants continue to be an important factor to promote development in their countries' of origin.

Tracking Discrimination - The Development Centre at the 2009 Commission on the Status of Women

In the framework of the 2009 session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the Development Centre will launch a new composite index shedding light on inequalities that are based on social norms and traditions.

Migration and Development: EADI Conference 2008

"Migration and Development: Policy Coherence and Effective Partnerships", organised at the 12th General Conference of EADI, took stock of what we know about the effects of migration on development. Participants shared their specific country or regional experiences to illustrate the mechanisms that link migration and development, in particular related to labour-market effects, the brain drain, remittances, diaspora networks and return migration.

OECD Washington Center: Breakfast Seminar on Gender Equality and Development
