This online database contains information on Policy Measures in OECD countries addressing Environmental Issues in Agriculture. Up to now information on this public website covers only a limited range of OECD countries, and work is under progress to add more countries to this website during. For each country a contextual information document and a table summarising the agri-environmental expenditures is available in the database. For more information how to use this database please consult the Public Website Users Guide (link to the users guide document).

Farm support undermining sustainable use of water, says new OECD report

Agriculture, as the main user of water in OECD countries, can also help maintain ecosystems. But government policies to support farm production often discourage the efficient use of water and aggravate pollution. The problem is identified in a new OECD publication on Water and Agriculture: Sustainability, Markets and Policies, a collection of expert papers on how to improve water management in the farming sector.

Coherence of agricultural and rural development policies

At a time when agriculture is no longer the dominant sector in rural economies in OECD countries, this study examines the advantages of developing coherence between agricultural and rural development policies.

Agri-Environmental Indicators Workshop

The main objective of the Workshop, held in Washington D.C., 19-21 March 2007, was to get a good idea as to which indicators and elements in the agri-environmental policy inventory are valued and used by policy makers, and to chart out a practical way forward to implement in a concrete way this work area in the OECD so that it is relevant to Member countries.

The OECD Technical Expert Meeting on Environmentally Harmful Subsidies

from 03-Nov-2003 to 04-Nov-2003

This meeting was held in Paris on 3-4 November 2003 and was a follow-up to the previous Workshop on Environmentally Harmful Subsidies held on 7-8 November 2002. The meeting gathered experts to address the issues of reforming environmentally harmful subsidies in the agriculture, fisheries, water, transport and energy sectors, particularly the question of obstacles to subsidy reform.
