OECD recommends strengthening Chilean regions to boost the economy

Chile’s economy has strengthened over the last 20 years. Yet, to date Chilean regions have not been able to fully utilise their assets and reach their growth potential, limiting national capacity for growth. An OECD Territorial Review of Chile recommends that Chile adopt a stronger regional approach to economic development in order to better exploit opportunities and improve the country’s overall performance.

Ce document de travail met en évidence les questions clés de gouvernance réglementaire pluri-niveaux et contribue au développement « d’un cadre d’analyse pluri-niveaux de la gouvernance réglementaire ». Il s’appuie sur le concept de réglementation de grande qualité, sur les Principes directeurs de l’OCDE pour la qualité et la performance de la réglementation, ainsi que sur d’autres études analytiques antérieures de la gouvernance réglementaire pluri-niveaux. OECD acknowledges Turkey's progress in combating foreign bribery

The 38-country OECD Working Group on Bribery welcomed recent progress by Turkey in its efforts to comply with the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. The Working Group completed its Phase 2bis review of Turkey, to assess major areas of concern identified in Turkey’s Phase 2 evaluation.

Multi-level Regulatory Governance

Multi-level regulatory governance is becoming a priority in many OECD countries. This Working Paper identifies some of the key policy issues related to multi-level regulatory governance and contributes to a “Framework for Analysis of Multi-level Regulatory Governance”, taking as a basis the concept of high quality regulation and following the OECD Guiding Principles for Regulatory Quality and Performance and previous analytical work on multi-level regulatory governance. 

Evolutions in budgetary practice: Allen Schick and the OECD Senior Budget Officials (publication)

This book commemorates the 30th anniversary of the OECD Working Party of Senior Budget Officials (SBO). It brings together documents, articles and extracts from publications written by Professor Allen Schick, who has been associated with the SBO since its inception. Over the years, Professor Schick has made fundamental contributions to the art of public sector budgeting, and his work continues to be an inspiration for budgeting reform around the world.

OECD Regional Policy Forum, ‘Global Crisis, Regional Responses’

As the economic crisis deepens, the public sector is stepping in to restore confidence and stimulate the economy. To be successful, this effort needs to include policy makers at all levels of government, as well as stakeholders in the private sector, civil society and academia. Sub-national governments are responsible for two-thirds of public investment in OECD countries and will have an important role to play in efforts to resolve the crisis.

Symposium on international comparison of the budget cycle in R&D and innovation policies, Madrid, July 2008

The OECD and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance jointly organised a symposium on the topic "International Comparison of the Budget Cycle in Research and Development and Innovation Policies" in Madrid, 3-4 July 2008. The primary objective was to provide systematic comparisons for a limited number of OECD countries of the usefulness of R&D and innovation evaluation systems for resource allocation purposes. The symposium focused on how evaluation techniques are applied for priority setting and how they influence the availability of financial resources for RDI activities.
