African Economic Outlook 2007

The African Economic Outlook combines the expertise of the OECD with the knowledge of the African Development Bank on African economies. The objective is to review annually the recent economic situation and the likely short-term evolution of selected African countries. The 2007 focus is on Access to Drinking Water and Sanitation.

International Expert Workshop "Measuring Gender Equality"

The workshop streamlined ongoing discussions by bringing together key stakeholders to exchange their views and experiences in measuring gender equality. Participants included experts from international organisations, non-governmental organisations and research institutes as well as statistical offices. In addition to a presentation of existing data compilations, focus was put on methodological issues, questions of data aggregation and indicator building, as well as options for improved data collection and quality.

Presenting "The Visible Hand of China in Latin America"

This new publication describes the opportunities and challenges that Latin American economies face as Chinese importance in the world economy continues to grow. Javier Santiso, deputy director of the OECD Development Centre and editor of the book, presented the volume in Santiago de Chile, at the World Economic  Forum on Latin America and a seminar held by the Central Bank of Chile.

African Economic Outlook 2007 - Press Conference

The Gender, Institutions and Development Data Base

The Gender, Institutions and Development Data Base (GID) represents a new tool for researchers and policy makers to determine and analyse obstacles to women’s economic development. It covers a total of 161 countries and comprises an array of 60 indicators on gender discrimination.

African Economic Outlook 2007 : launch date is announced

The 2007 edition of the African Economic Outlook (AEO 2007) will be launched for the media on 14 May at the OECD Forum in Paris. The 2007 edition, covering 31 African countries, provides a special focus on water and sanitation.

La présentation du livre Perspectives Économiques en Afrique (PEA 2007) aura lieu le 14 mai 2007 au Forum de l’OCDE à Paris. L’édition 2007 du PEA, comprenant l'analyse de la situation économique de 31 pays Africains, met en exergue l’accès à l’eau potable et l’assainissement.

Gaining from Migration

La mise en œuvre successive des plans d'allègement de la dette PPTE et IADM ont permis de réduire considérablement la charge du service de la dette pour les pays africains qui en ont bénéficié. Dotés d'une solvabilité restaurée et par ailleurs confrontés à des besoins de financement importants, ces pays souhaitent désormais se ré-endetter. Ce Repère dont la publication fait suite à un séminaire d'experts consacré aux économies africaines et organisé conjointement le 8 juin 2006 par l'AFD et le Centre de Développement, évalue les conditions d'un tel processus de ré-endettement.
