Israel joins OECD Anti-bribery Convention

On 11 March 2009, Israel became the 38th signatory to the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention which outlaws bribery of foreign public officials in international business transactions. Israel’s accession to the Convention represents an important commitment to the international fight against corruption.

In a statement issued today (12 February 2009), the OECD, the IMF and the World Bank underscored the urgent need for measures to restore banks’ lending capacity and for fiscal stimulus to combat the economic crisis. They also warned against protectionist policies, which they said would slow down global recovery. The statement was issued following a joint seminar held at OECD headquarters on 4 February 2009 to discuss the response to the crisis.

Company Leaders Launch Latin American Corporate Governance Initiative

The Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance launched, on May 10th in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a new Companies Circle. This is an initiative led by companies who have adopted best practices of corporate governance. Its objectives are to bring together a group of Latin American companies who have adopted best corporate governance practices to provide private sector input into the work of the Roundtable; and to share with each other and the public their experiences putting the principles of good corporate governance into practice.

MENA-OECD (Middle East and North Africa) Investment Steering Group Meeting

OECD/IOPS Conference on Private Pensions in Asia
