Education and Social Progress

This new CERI project Education and Social Progress (EPS) is conceived to analyse the role cognitive and non-cognitive skills play in fostering measures of well-being and social progress in OECD countries and  identify how skills that matter can be better developed in formal, non-formal and informal learning environments including family, school and the community.

The International Conference on Innovative Learning Environments (ILE), Banff, Canada, 10-12 October 2011

The OECD/Alberta Canada conference is the most ambitious event to date in the CERI’s work on Innovative Learning Environments. It draws upon earlier work on learning research and addresses in detail the on-going “innovative cases” analysis and the new work focused on the key issues of “implementation and change”.

Effective Governance from the Centre: First GCES Thematic Conference, The Hague, Netherlands, 21-22 November 2011

The first thematic conference in a series of three for the OECD/CERI project Governing Complex Educational Systems will be held 21-22 November 2011 in The Hague, Netherlands. The focus is on the role of central government in complex, multilevel systems of governance.

ICT and Initial Teacher Education - Working Paper

This working paper gives an overview of the national policies that exist in the field of ICT and initial teacher education. Information on this topic was initially gathered via a survey, which was conducted as part of the analytical strand of the OECD study of the New Millennium Learners project in CERI entitled "ICT and Initial Teacher Education".

Le prochain événement sur les innovations qui marchent sera une conférence organisé les 5 et 6 décembre 2011 à l'Université CETYS, Mexicali, Mexique.
Cette conférence reflètera les conclusions des examens institutionnels d’IMHE sur la qualité de l’enseignement (en cours) et abordera les interrogations plus larges à l’échelle de l’institution et des politiques nationales pour le soutien à la qualité de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage dans l’enseignement supérieur.

The next "What Works" event is a conference that will take place on 5-6 December 2011 at CETYS University, Mexicali, Mexico. The Conference will reflect on the findings of the IMHE institutional reviews on quality teaching (underway) and discuss broader issues on institution-wide and national policies supporting quality of teaching and learning in higher education.

International Summit on the Teaching Profession (New York City - March 16-17, 2011)

The U.S. Department of Education together with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Education International (EI) and U.S.-based organizations – National Education Association (NEA), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), Asia Society, and WNET will host the Summit. The summit is the first of its kind, designed to engage countries in an intensive discussion about promising practices for recruiting, preparing, developing, supporting, retaining, evaluating, and compensating world-class teachers.

Managing Internationalisation Project Launch
