Aid committed by DAC members to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the economic and productive sectors amounted to USD 4.6 billion on average per year in 2007‐08. This brief analyses how this aid was allocated.

Integrating gender equality dimensions into public financial management reforms

This paper (Issues Brief 6) suggests ways of using gender-responsive budgeting to integrate a gender equality perspective into public financial management in partner countries. It makes the case that gender-responsive budgeting is a form of financial management that seeks to ensure an efficient allocation of resources based on the needs identified, and can offer a win-win situation by both strengthening gender equality and enhancing economic growth - but has so far been more about advocacy than action.

Low-Carbon Growth in Asia: Regional Coordination is the Key

A one-day workshop, aimed at sharing knowledge on Low-Carbon Growth (LCG) amongst countries in the Asia-Pacific region and international donors, was held in Bangkok. It stressed the need for each countries to identify policy measures and pursue their activities to attain low-carbon growth, and for international co-operation to be conducted at the regional scale.

Experts Meeting on Indicators: Measuring Aid-for-Trade Results at the Country Level, 22 October 2010

OECD held an experts meeting to review the use of indicators for aid-for-trade monitoring and evaluation. The meeting addressed whether there was a need for indicators, for what purpose and how to go forward. Experts provided insights into the demand for and the supply of aid-for-trade indicators. Participants also had a chance to hear what some donors were doing to improve their results management through using common indicators.

Aid in Support of Gender Equality in Fragile and Conflict-affected States

It is 10 years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. To mark the anniversary, the Development Co-operation Directorate has published a brief which analyses aid spent by DAC members in support of gender equality in fragile and conflicted-affected states. Conference - "Fragile states: the final frontier"

Although fragile states are furthest from achieving the Millennium Development Goals, engagement in these states is often questioned due to the perception that these states are corrupt, bellicose and generally risky.
