54 country chapters of the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration

Volume 2 of the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration includes a detailed analysis for each of the 55 countries that undertook the survey. Each of the survey was managed by the national coordinator, appointed by the government, in cooperation with the local donor community.

Some of the answers can be found in this survey report which presents the results from the second-, follow-up survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. It assesses progress in 54 developing countries and helps us understand the challenges in making aid more effective in order to advance development.

The documentation for the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration is available in English, French, and Spanish and can be downloaded from the dedicated website. Fifty-six countries participated in this survey. The survey was carried out between 2 January - 31 March 2008.

Managing Aid: Practices of DAC Member Countries

The donor community is committed to increasing aid and to working with partners to make aid more effective. But just how are we going achieve our ambitious agenda? Managing Aid surveys the practices of the 23 members that make up the OECD Development Assistance Committee. In doing so, it seeks to offer inspiration to aid managers and practitioners – new and experienced – who are interested in continuously improving the way donors and partners work together.

On 28-29 May 2009, the OECD hosted a High Level Meeting on Environment and Development

Decision makers discussed key issues related to adaptation to climate change, water supply and sanitation, as well as capacity development for environmental management and low-carbon development paths. Two documents were endorsed in the course of the meeting: A Policy Statement and a Policy Guidance on Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Development Co-operation. Last, but not least, the meeting laid out an ambitious, forward looking agenda for deepening the partnership between the environment and development communities (see also Co-Chairs' Summary).

OECD’s review of Austria’s development co-operation

Austria’s official development assistance (ODA) was 0.42% of its gross national income (GNI) in 2008, putting it in 11th place among OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donors.

OECD review of Ireland’s development co-operation

Ireland’s net official development assistance (ODA) was USD 1.3 billion in 2008, a 90% increase over 2003 in real terms. Ireland’s aid grew from 0.39% of gross national income in 2003 to 0.58% in 2008 during a period of exceptional national economic growth.

Development aid at its highest level ever in 2008

In 2008, total net official development assistance (ODA) from members of the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) rose by 10.2% in real terms to USD 119.8 billion.  This is the highest dollar figure ever recorded.  It represents 0.30% of members’ combined gross national income.
