Economy : Developing countries set to account for nearly 60% of world GDP by 2030, according to new estimates

The economic and financial crisis is accelerating a longer-term structural transformation in the global economy, with the aggregate economic weight of developing and emerging economies on the verge of surpassing that of the countries that currently make up the advanced world, according to new analysis from the OECD Development Centre.

The OECD and the French Senate agreed to increase their collaboration on a wide range of issues including  economic and social policy and sustainable development.

Gender, Development and Decent Work: Meeting of Trade Union, Development and OECD experts

on 27-Apr-2009

A meeting to examine how to support the employment and empowerment of women in the context of a global labour market in which work is increasingly feminised, informalised and precarious, identifying the deficits in Decent Work that affect women workers, before exploring the steps to be taken ensure that pro-poor growth policies support the movement of women into Decent Work and out of poverty. The discussions also addressed the implications of the financial crisis.

OECD Forum 2009, Paris: The Crisis and Beyond, for a stronger, cleaner, fairer economy

The 10th OECD Forum provided the chance to join the debate on the economic and financial crisis with representatives from government, business, labour and civil society.
The Forum took place in conjunction with the annual OECD ministerial summit which was be chaired by Korean Prime Minister HAN Seung-soo.
