Fibre Access – Network Developments in the OECD Area

The  report examines the use of fibre to provide local access networks for the provision of broadband access. Countries across the OECD are adopting different approaches to stimulate investment and to define the terms of competition to end-users in a fibre to the home or building world.

OECD invites comments on the Draft Recommendation for Assessing the Sustainability of Bio-based Products

The OECD’s draft Recommendation offers principles to help design sustainability assessment methodologies of bio-based products and intermediates. This Recommendation is targeted at those involved with innovation in the bio-based industries, and particularly at those involved in evaluating the impact of bio-based products in terms of their environmental, economic and social sustainability. Public comments are invited before 29 July 2011.

Workshop on consumer protection in online and mobile payments

Innovative online payments services has increasingly been offered to consumers in recent years. Financial and non-financial institutions are now working towards the commercialisation of new and easy-to-use mobile payment systems. Despite the benefits and convenience these systems may bring, a number of issues need to be resolved. An OECD workshop served to discuss emerging challenges in the payments area and ways to address them effectively. The event was organised within the framework of the review of the 1999 E-commerce Guidelines.

OECD Global Forum on Biotechnology - Delivering Global Promise Through the Life Sciences

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in partnership with the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council's (ESRC) Genomics Network (EGN) will host a major Forum on 6-7 December 2010 at the OECD Headquarters in Paris.  This Forum will review how knowledge in the life sciences is governed, shared, regulated and managed, and to explore new linkages between the life sciences and information and communication technologies.

Smart ICTs and Green Growth

It will provide a forum to compare and contrast the new governance and regulatory models that are emerging across the OECD area and elsewhere.
