Volume 2 of the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration includes a detailed analysis for each of the 55 countries that undertook the survey. Each of the survey was managed by the national coordinator, appointed by the government, in cooperation with the local donor community.

How effective is aid at helping countries meet their own development objectives? Some of the answers can be found in this survey report which presents the results from the second-, follow-up survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. It assesses progress in 54 developing countries and helps us understand the challenges in making aid more effective in order to advance development.

The documentation for the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration is available in English, French, and Spanish and can be downloaded from the dedicated website. Fifty-six countries participated in this survey. The survey was carried out between 2 January - 31 March 2008.

The 4th and 5th Issues Briefs in the series on aid effectiveness, gender equality and women's empowerment are now available. They outline strategies to assist donors and partners to manage for gender equality results - in donor agencies and in partner countries respectively.

This second monitoring report will examine recent developments, present a comprehensive analysis of donor and partner country engagement, address the regional dimension of Aid for Trade, and present country factsheets assessing the outcomes and impacts of the initiative. OECD Secretary-General A.Gurria and WTO Director-General P.Lamy will launch the report during the Second Global Review of Aid for Trade (Geneva, 06-07 July).

OECD will release the 2008 Official Development Assistance figures at 14:00 (London time) on Monday 30 March. For the first time, the news conference will also address the outlook for aid in the future based on new OECD work on donor forward spending plans.

The OECD has released a new report – Managing Water for All: Pricing and Financing – at an event during the World Water Forum in Istanbul. Emphasising the economic, social and environmental benefits of investing in water and sanitation, the report includes information about the agricultural uses of water, financing water supply and sanitation, water pricing, private sector participation in the water sector and aid flows to water.

New OECD DAC publication on gender and security system reform (SSR), entitled "Integrating Gender Awareness and Equality" will provide practical guidance on how to integrate a gender perspective in SSR processes and address programming gaps in this area.

The Joint Venture on Public Financial Management (PFM) held a consultative meeting on Public Financial Management on the 27th of May 2008. The meeting was hosted by the South African Treasury and the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI) based in Pretoria.

International Conference Centre, Accra, Ghana (2-4 September 2008). The Accra High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness will reform the way developed and developing countries work together, to ensure that development assistance is well-spent and that it helps build sustainable economies that lift people out of poverty. The Forum is open to media. Journalists are welcome in the Media Centre, which is equipped with wifi. They are also invited to join a field trip to a development project near Accra.

The International Public Procurement Conference (IPPC) is a meeting place for public procurement professionals and academics from all over the world, in the area of public procurement. The third IPPC will take place in Amsterdam from 28 to 30 August 2008. The conference is shaped around papers submitted by international members of the academic world as well as the world of everyday public procurement practice. About 100 papers, with a wide diversity of topics, have been submitted.

The third meeting of the Joint Venture on Procurement took place in Arusha from 5 – 7 May, at the invitation of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority of Tanzania in collaboration with the African Development Bank. This meeting brought together procurement professionals and interested development practioners from multilateral and bilateral development organisations and from partner countries around the world. The meeting took place in the context of implementing the procurement-related aspects of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. (español)
