Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, in Mexico from 12 to 17 October 2015

 

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Mexico from 12 to 17 October 2015 to attend two major OECD events.

 

In Guadalajara, the Secretary-General attended the 5th OECD World Forum on Statistics, Knowledge and Policy: “Transforming Policy, Changing Lives”. He held several bilateral meetings with local authorities and high-level officials attending the event. Mr. Gurría also presented the latest edition of the OECD “How’s Life?” report as well as the OECD well-being indicators in Mexican states.

 

In Mexico City, the Secretary-General delivered opening remarks at the 6th OECD Roundtable of Mayors and Ministers. He also attended the OECD-BIAC-COPARMEX-COMCE Trade and Investment Conference and delivered remarks at the Forum Impulsando a México.

 

The Secretary-General also presented the OECD Review of the Mexican Pensions System, alongside Mr. Luis Videgaray, Minister of Finance and the OECD Territorial Review of the Valle de México alongside Mrs. Rosario Robles, Minister of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development and several other local authorities. While in Mexico City, the Secretary-General also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between OECD and the United Cities and Local Governments of Mexico (UCLG).

 

Mr. Gurría concluded his trip receiving the Isidro Fabela Prize honouring outstanding service in the promotion of international relations at an award ceremony organised by the Mexican Association of International Studies (AMEI) on the occasion of its annual congress in Cancun.
