This event further stimulated the ongoing debate on the investment and business climate in Egypt and paved the road for further structural, legal and institutional reforms.
By reviving the 1980 Investment Agreement, this amendment could create a more predictable and favourable policy environment for investors at the regional level, and contribute to enhance the attractiveness of investing in the region and promote intra-regional investment.
The Programme and other experts presented a series of policy insights and recommendations – developed in consultation with the Government of Iraq (GoI) and subject-matter experts – to a high-level audience. The goal of the meetings was to encourage the GoI to develop and implement policies which could spur wider reforms and increased investment.
The Conference on Fostering Infrastructure Investment in the MENA Region: Mitigating Risk in Uncertain Times will address the facilitation of the private sector decision to invest in infrastructure projects in the MENA region, including under public-private partnerships.
This group works with the Iraq government to create investment zones to attract companies through the provision of streamlined administrative services, security and infrastructure.
