 Overview

 

The regional meeting “Enhancing Civil Society Participation in Policy-Making”, organised by the Egyptian Ministry of State for Administrative Development in cooperation with the MENA-OECD Governance Programme, was held on 17 January 2011 in Cairo. Back to back, the host, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Darwish, Minister of State for Administrative Development, launched the Arabic version of the OECD Report “Progress in Public Management in the Middle East and North Africa”. Both events were attended by over 200 high-level officials and civil society representatives from 13 MENA and OECD countries.

 

 Outcomes

 

Delegates underlined the important contribution of the OECD Report “Progress in Public Management in the MENA” to comprehensive policy analysis and data collection in the Arab region. The Arabic version provides a powerful working document for policy reform that can be used by Arab-speaking practitioners, legislators, academics, NGOs and members of the donor community.
