The conference “Investment and inclusive growth in the midst of crisis: lessons learned & ways forward” took place on 11 May 2016, in Beirut, Lebanon. It was organised under the patronage of the Minister of Finance of Lebanon, Mr. Ali Hassan Khalil, and co-hosted by the Institut des Finances Basil Fuleihan (IoF) and the OECD.
18 April 2016 - This meeting of the MENA-OECD Business Integrity Network, held in the context of the 2016 OECD Integrity Week, placed particular emphasis on the development and implementation of better integrity standards and corporate responsibility frameworks by both the public and the private sectors.

The main objectives of the workshop are to build capacities in the Government of Iraq in the areas of
International Investment Agreements (IIAs) and arbitration, and to analyse the draft arbitration law of Iraq.

Enhancing SME policies for inclusive growth: Provides a forum for multilateral dialogue and peer learning among MENA and OECD policymakers, experts and representatives of the private sector and regional and international organisations. The discussions will identify the strategic priorities on SME and entrepreneurship policy for the extended mandate of the MENA-OECD Competitiveness Programme (2016-2020).

To discuss the situation of SMEs and entrepreneurship in the GCC area and the role of SME policy in the wider development agendas of GCC countries, present the work and tools developed by the OECD on SME promotion and explore common objectives, challenges and opportunities for regional policy dialogue.

In preparation of the two investor outreach events planned for May 2016 in Germany and Kuwait, the Programme organised a
workshop for the benefit staff members of the Iraqi National Investment Commission focusing mainly on practical
exercises and training (such as mock interviews) that form the basis of the proposed investor outreach events.
Organised in collaboration with the IMF Middle East Center for Economics and Finance, the training course brought together 33 participants from 18 MENA Governments and Organisations (including the private sector and civil society) to engage in a dialogue on recent trends, best practices and practical tools to foster integrity, with leading international experts and anti-corruption practitioners.
