On October 15, OECD will publish the 2008 edition of its annual Revenue Statistics, which presents detailed comparable tax data in a common format for all OECD countries from 1965 onwards. The publication will be available to journalists under embargo on the OECD’s password-protected website from Tuesday 14 October, for automatic release at 11.00 a.m. Paris time on Wednesday 15 October.

The Isle of Man and the United Kingdom announced that they have signed a bilateral agreement for the exchange of information for tax purposes, bringing to 11 the number of such agreements entered into by the Isle of Man.

Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 4.7% in the year to August 2008, compared with 4.8% in the year to July 2008. On a monthly basis, the price level decreased by 0.1% in August, compared with a rise of 0.4% in July.

In the lead-up to joining the European Union, Hungary made significant progress in reducing air and water pollution and protecting its nature and biodiversity. OECD’s latest Review of the Environmental Performance of Hungary recommends that it redouble its efforts, in order to further reduce pollution and use energy and raw materials more efficiently.
