This international event was organised by the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs and Local Development (CFE) through the OECD LEED Trento Centre for Local Development. It addressed the role that higher education institutions play in fostering entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on Central, East and South-East European countries (see draft agenda 1MB).
The conference brought together leading academics and experts, policy makers, LEED Partners and the OECD to analyse two principal questions:
How can higher education institutes best provide entrepreneurship training and contribute more widely to developing an entrepreneurial culture amongst graduates?
How can higher education institutes best promote SME innovation?
A series of recommendations were made on public policy stances towards entrepreneurship training provision and technology transfer in the higher education sector. The conference will lead to an OECD publication setting out the issues and recommended policy responses. You can download the presentations here.
The conference was a joint activity of the OECD's Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Programme and the SMEs and Entrepreneurship Division.
