9th Annual Meeting of the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance (Dublin-Kilkenny, Ireland)

Localities across the OECD area are confronted with the challenge of reducing high and persistent unemployment and defining new sources of economic growth, all in the context of shrinking public resources. The 9th Annual Meeting offered an opportunity to reflect on innovative ways to support local job creation, business growth and effective policy delivery.

OECD Secretary-General visit to Ireland (Dublin, 4 November)

Angel Gurría was in Dublin to launch the Economic Survey of Ireland and the conclusions and recommendations of the Environmental Performance review of Ireland, to be published early next year. He also gave a speech at the Institute of International and European Affairs and met several ministers to discuss key policy issues.

Nanotechnology: implications for human health, the environment and food safety

The conference, to be held in Dublin on 2 November 2007, will focus upon the emerging discipline of nanotoxicology and its implications to the broader nanotechnology community. Particular emphasis will be given to the food, environment and medical sectors. The conference will bring together a number of international leaders in the area of nanotoxicology and represents the first conference on this novel topic to be held in Ireland. It

Capacity building seminar: Enhancing the capacity of partnerships to influence policy (Dublin)

This 2.5-day seminar was the second stage of a capacity building programme designed for experienced partnerships from OECD member countries and allowed a more in-depth discussion on how partnerships can enhance their capacity to influence policy at the local, national and international levels.
