International Development Statistics (IDS) online databases on aid and other resource flows

Bookmark this page: www.oecd.org/dac/stats/idsonline

The International Development Statistics databases cover bilateral and multilateral donors’ aid and other resource flows to developing countries in two separate databases:

> The DAC annual aggregates database, which provides comprehensive data on the volume, origin and types of aid and other resource flows;

> The Creditor Reporting System (CRS), which provides detailed information on individual aid activities, such as sectors, countries, project descriptions etc.

The DAC and CRS online databases are updated on a quarterly basis and accessible through two interfaces:

OECD.Stat browser for users familiar with the DAC and CRS databases (see section below with direct links to datasets OECD.Stat);

QWIDS (Query Wizard for International Development Statistics) which pulls data from OECD.Stat and offers an intuitive interface for users less familiar with the structure and content of the DAC and CRS databases.

Notes: All amounts are expressed in USD millions in either constant or current prices. Constant prices (deflated amounts) include adjustments to allow for inflation rate changes in donor countries as well as changes in exchange rates between the donor currency and the US dollar over the same period. Constant prices are recommended for time series analysis

(*) The Aid Activities (CRS) database dimensions include:

  • recipient countries (possibility of grouping by continent or by income group)
  • donors (grouped into bilateral and multilateral)
  • sectors and sub-sectors
  • annual commitments / disbursements
  • flows: grants, loans, ODA, OOF
  • channels of delivery
  • type of aid

The CRS dataset allows users to view and export the detailed list of transactions behind each amount (click on magnifying-glass icon). Users can also download the entire dataset by year (see menu Export, Related files). Note: The only way to obtain data for commitments prior to 1995 and for disbursements prior to 2002 is to download the dataset.
